Looks like there has been a lot of talk the last few days about the future of Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Enterprises Inc. After reporting a 4th quarter loss of $145.7 million, Jerry Kern ( Interim Chief Executive ) told investors that they would be open to offers of a buyout. But a Playboy rep has also stated that “this is no change in policy. We’ve always been open to discussion.” and that “The magazine is not for sale,” as reported by the NYT .

So your considering becoming a live webcam chat host on an adult website, there’s a few things we think you should know before you jump into this business. First off, if this is the first time working on a live cam site then you should do some research. The number one reason models walk away from this industry is the simple lack of knowledge about how this business is run and a large amount of shady cam companies out there trying to scam their models out of time and money. We hear sob stories from models all the time complaining that the last company they worked with screwed them out of money or stole their personal information and now they don’t know who to trust. The easiest way to avoid this happening to you is by doing research.
When your just starting out you will most likely be confused about how a lot of it works and you don’t necessarily have someone there to explain all the details or advise you on which sites to put your trust in. There are a very select few chat host forums available to use as a resource but even then you can only trust people on the forums to a point. Remember people will refer you to just about any site to get a referral bonus it doesn’t necessarily mean you will make good money on that site.
So what should you be looking for in a cam site.
- Solid Reputation
- Lots of Members
- Pay Per Min Payment Model
- Weekly or Bi- Weekly Payments
- Multiple Payment Methods
- Quality Support
- Quick Setup Process
- Follows all Legal Guidelines
- Consistency In Privates
- Easy To Use Streaming Video Software
These are just some basic things you should be looking for in a prospective cam site. You will notice not every cam site is perfect and some will provide higher quality service in some areas than others. So the real question is “what do you want from a cam site?”
As you may or may not know this business is usually conducted from the privacy of ones home. Limited equipment is required to get started, most sites only require you to have a computer, webcam and high speed internet connection. If you have those three things already then you are one step ahead, you will not have to worry about purchasing anything. If any cam site tries to charge you a setup fee or any other type of fee they are most likely just looking to make a quick buck off you and will not provide you with a quality site to work on. The only things you should have to purchase are the three required pieces of equipment that we’ve mentioned above.
Purchasing a webcam can also be a confusing task as many prospective models normally already have a computer and internet connection. This can be an expensive lesson if you are not careful, as most models have the mentality that they will purchase the cheapest one they can find. This can backfire big time, by purchasing a “cheap” webcam you are also sacrificing the quality of video that you will be able to stream, which mean less time in private and less consistent privates. The webcam that we recommend to every model is the Logitech Pro 9000 this webcam is reasonably priced and the quality of video and audio is superb, the only “drawback” is that this camera runs around $60-80, right now you are probably thinking that is a pricey investment to make, but when you think about your potential return on a $60-80 investment, this little computer device is going to open up a whole new world of opportunities for you. For your one time investment in a webcam you have the potential of earning anywhere from $2000-8000 per month easy.
